At Verified Tipsters we believe informed betting starts with self-awareness. This page explains how to keep your betting under control and where to find help if you need it. Only bet with money you can afford to lose – no tipster, verified or otherwise, can guarantee a profit.
Golden rules
- Set a budget before you play. Decide in advance how much you are willing to lose and stop when you hit that limit.
- Never chase losses. Doubling stakes to recover a losing run is the fastest way to a bigger loss.
- Bet with time, not urgency. Take breaks. Sleep on decisions. Emotional bets are usually bad bets.
- Keep it fun. If betting stops being enjoyable, take a break – no result is worth your wellbeing.
- Don’t bet under the influence. Alcohol, medication and strong emotions distort judgement.
Warning signs
The following behaviours may signal a problem. If more than one applies to you, consider taking a break and reaching out for support.
- Betting more than you intended or can afford
- Hiding your betting activity from friends or family
- Borrowing money to place a bet or cover losses
- Missing work, study, or personal commitments to bet
- Feeling irritable, anxious or restless when not betting
- Chasing losses with progressively larger stakes
Practical tools
- Deposit limits. All reputable bookmakers offer daily, weekly, and monthly deposit limits. Set them low, raise them slowly.
- Time-outs. Take a short break from betting (24 hours to 6 weeks). Available at any licensed operator.
- Self-exclusion. Block yourself from a bookmaker’s site for six months, one year, or five years.
- Reality checks. Enable session reminders so you always know how long you have been betting and how much you have staked.
Our commitment
Verified Tipsters is an information platform, not a bookmaker. We do not accept, hold, or facilitate bets. We publish independent verification data to help you separate credible tipsters from misleading ones – always as a decision-support tool, never as a guarantee.
We do not target minors or vulnerable audiences and we regularly review our advertising partners to ensure they meet responsible-gambling standards.
